I rarely crave for Thai food. But recently, I found myself interested in trying something not-so-new but different from my go-to cuisines. And among the restaurants I have on my list, I have chosen to try Doon Thai and Asian Fusion Cuisine.
I have heard a lot of good things about this restaurant. It is not as popular as the others, but also has several branches. We tried their branch at Paseo de Magallanes, and these are the food we tried:
One thing we were sure about was that we wanted some pad thai. This is offered with 4 meats to choose from - chicken, beef, pork, or seafood. It’s weird, but we chose to try it with beef. It was good, flavorful, and had nice, chewy noodles. The serving was less than what we are used to when ordering pad thai, but enough to be shared by 2 people.
Bagoong Fried Rice ₱350
Green Curry (beef) ₱350
The green curry was the highlight of my visit. The serving was huge. It had a lot of everything, including the meat. It was flavorful, I was able to really taste the different spices they used. This would have been better enjoyed with a cup of plain rice, though (rather than the bagoong rice). It also had just a bit of a kick.
Sticky Rice with Mango ₱225
Mango cubes with a small cup of sticky rice, what’s not to love? It also had a bit of chopped nuts on top that gave it a really nice, nutty flavor on top of the sweetness and coconut milk. We actually ordered this one to-go since we were full from finishing everything we ordered.
Overall, it was an enjoyable lunch. The pricing is not as cheap given the serving size and quality, but can still be considered pretty decent, as there are other cheaper (and also more expensive) places compared to this restaurant.
