I'm sure you have heard of this relatively new ramen shop that opened in Rockwell, Makati. It's been the talk of the town even since before it opened, partly because it is from the same champions that brought us the well-loved Mendokoro Ramenba.
Marudori is the new ramen restaurant in Makati. What makes it different? Well, they use chicken (instead of pork) to create their paitan broth.
I heard there is always a long queue here, so we decided to go on a weekday lunch.
Shio Paitan ₱430
I always go for shio vs. shoyu when they are both available in a ramen restaurant, so I ordered their shio paitan ramen. My first sip of the ramen was mind-blowing. I was really impressed. I didn't expect the ramen to be sooo rich and flavorful. The taste of the chicken was very obvious - not something they were trying to pass off as your usual ramen, but surprisingly works.
Tantanmen Ramen ₱490
I have very low tolerance for spicy food, but I like soups with a bit of a kick, so I convinced my boyfriend to get the tantanmen so I can try it. I liked it because (thankfully) its spice level was tolerable. It was creamy, and had the perfect balance of sweet, spicy, and salty flavors that complements one another.
Gyoza 5pcs ₱250
Their gyoza is also made of chicken, and looks more like the Chinese sheng jian bao than a gyoza. It has a crispy bottom, and a soft and juicy filling. We should have just ordered the 3 pcs since these are a bit big and heavy.
Shiro Miso Karaage ₱450
I've heard so much hype about Marudori so I really expected a lot, and guess what? This restaurant exceeded my high expectations! It's my first time to try chicken ramen so I really have nothing to compare it with, but this restaurant definitely raised the bar.
