Where to Get Delicious Taiwanese Food
I have tried Shi Lin before, but only for their dimsum. And now that I got to try more of their food, I just can't stop questioning myself why? Why haven't I ordered all these delicious dishes before?
Shi Lin is a restaurant that has been here in Metro Manila for years now. They offer a wide array of Taiwanese dishes, from dimsum to mains and desserts. Here are some of them:
Sweet and Sour Fish ₱408 |
Shi Lin's sweet and sour fish (₱408) is different from others I've had before. As you'd expect, it has that sweet and sour taste, but it's a lot milder than most, so you can really taste the perfect combo between the flavors.
Spicy Spare Ribs ₱456 ❤ |
Probably my favorite out of everything we had during our visit was the spicy spare ribs (₱456). I loved all the spices that goes with every bite. It's also not really that spicy, which is good for those who have a low tolerance when it comes to spicy food.
If you're not into vegetables, then the string beans with minced pork (₱262) is perfect for you! It's crunchy and does not taste like vegetables at all. It's something you can just eat as a snack or enjoy with a bowl of rice.
Fried Rice with Shrimp & Egg ₱200 |
I also loved their fried rice with shrimp and egg ₱200. It's cheaper than the yang chow rice I normally have at Chinese restaurants, but still really good.
Red Bean Buns ₱132 |
For dessert, you can try Shi Lin's red bean buns ₱132. It's like a siopao but filled with red bean paste. It's the dessert you would go for if you're not into sweets.
Fried Mantou ₱103 |
Fried mantou ₱103 is so underrated. It's bread that's lightly glazed with sugar, and served with condensed milk. The mantou alone already has a slight sweetness to it, so I'm good with eating it with or without the milk.
Lychee Shake, Passion Berry Iced Tea, Crimson Berry Iced Tea |
DUOLICIOUS DEALS - 2 for ₱218
Shi Lin has an ongoing promo: the duolicious deals. You can have two orders of a dish under this deal and pay only ₱218:
Boiled Beef Noodle Soup/ Boiled Chicken Noodle Soup |
Who can say no to asado? It's my favorite! The asado has a combination of sweet and salty taste that's just addicting to me. It also comes with condensed milk, but I can have it without.
Pork Buns ₱147 |
Noodles in Sesame and Peanut Sauce ₱147 |
The best noodles for me out of everything we had would have to be the Noodles in Sesame and Peanut Sauce ₱147. It might be weird to think of at first because it's noodles with a sweet and nutty sauce, but it just works.
Nutella Dumplings ₱184 ❤ |
Save the best for last! Shi Lin's Nutella dumplings are filled with chocolate hazelnut, so when you bite into that thin wrapper, expect a burst of Nutella in your mouth!

I honestly enjoyed our afternoon trip to Shi Lin last Saturday. I enjoyed it so much that I craved for their food the very next day, and it will definitely one of my go-to restaurants in the coming months.
