Eating Brunch for Dinner at Bluesmith Coffee & Kitchen

by - Friday, January 25, 2019

TGIF - Thank God it's Friday! The most awaited day of the week has come. It marks the beginning of the weekend, and everyone is extremely happy, especially me, which is why Fridays is usually my pig out day!

While on my way home last Friday, I received a text message from my sister asking if we could eat out. Normally, we'd have food delivered and eat while watching Netflix. Lucky for us, the traffic was unusually light that night, so I decided it's time for us to eat something different to celebrate Friday.

We went to Bluesmith Coffee & Kitchen, which is conveniently near our home and has ample parking spaces.

Bluesmith's interiors is simple and peaceful. It's the coffee shop for those who want a moment to themselves or just trying to get their work done.

Chicken and Waffles P340
Fried chicken is something we usually order, so it's no surprise that we both agreed to try their chicken and waffles. It's two huge cuts of their signature boneless fried chicken, and golden brown waffles served with whipped butter and syrup. We really liked their chicken, but only with little or no gravy at all, since the gravy was a bit too overpowering and salty.

Wagyu burger steak P420

We first ordered their wagyu burger, but since it was not available during our visit, we went with their wagyu burger steak instead. It's their best-selling all-wagyu beef patty served with milk gravy, sunny side up egg, mixed vegetables and rice. I was not convinced that this is one of their best-sellers since it tasted just okay to us. The patty was thick, although dry.

Tenderloin beef salpicao P420
Another best-selling dish from Bluesmith is their beef salpicao. It's beef squares and sliced marbled potatoes cooked in worcestershire oil, sprinkled with toasted garlic and served with mixed vegetables and white rice. We certainly expected more from the salpicao since I always see this in reviews and posts in social media. We were disappointed since it tasted like the Filipino classic dish adobo.

Linguine with sardines and arugula P295

It may not look like much, but I actually liked the linguine with sardines and arugula. It's linguine pasta with spanish sardines, black and green olives, and topped with arugula leaves. I honestly liked their version of a sardine pasta since it wasn't too oily.

Overall, although the quality of the food at Bluesmith Kitchen & Coffee isn't entirely consistent, I can still say that we were happy with our visit. I can see myself dropping by again to have their chicken and waffles, try some coffee and other food offerings.
