We had a hard time deciding on where we should have lunch one Sunday. I already had places in mind, but everything changed when I remembered that I had to do some grocery shopping. This forced us to choose a restaurant just around Glorietta Complex.
We saw several posters about the new restaurants now open at the new roofdeck area of Glorietta 1, including that of Moonshine Kitchen's.
I have seen Moonshine Kitchen's other branches, but haven't been really tempted to try it until last Sunday. We had nowhere else in mind, so we decided to go for it.
Moonshine Chicken Salad P270 (+80 for arugula) |
I was torn between having their roasted salmon and salad because I was looking for something healthier. I wound up ordering the salad because salmon was just too pricey. The salad had grilled chicken, parmesan crisp, raspberry vinaigrette, and red leaf lettuce (lollo rosso). I also had an extra order of arugula (+P80) to add to my greens. The salad was a bit sloppy because it was overdressed, so overdressed that I was able to scoop out some of it from the bowl. Good thing I was able to enjoy it slightly better because of the arugula I ordered.
Most of Moonshine's mains cost over P500, which I think is because it is good for sharing. But if you're eating solo, then the lunch specials are for you. One of those lunch specials is the tawsilog, which is an order of crispy fried tawilis with bagoong rice, salted egg, and pickled red mango. I honestly liked the dish because of its complimenting salty and tangy flavors. A serving is also quite huge for its price.
Service at Moonshine Kitchen was a bit slow. I hope this is just because they're on soft opening and have a lot to figure out still.
Overall, Moonshine Kitchen serves huge portions of food, but is that enough to make me come back? Maybe - but only to try the other lunch specials from their menu. Their sisig bowl is making me curious.
