All hotel have these buffet restaurants everyone clamors about. Not only do we expect better food quality from these restaurants, but the service and the overall experience as well. There are a lot to discover, really, but most people already have their favorite go-to restaurants, while some prefer to go with what's "in". And then, there's me, stopping by several hotels each year to experience what they have to offer. My first stop this year? The Cafe at City of Dreams.
My boyfriend had already planned on bringing me here last February 15 for our Valentine's day lunch. But, it turns out that a lot of other couples out there had the same plan that we had to take our celebration elsewhere, with the plan on making a comeback a month later.
Here are some of the food available at The Cafe:
Cheese and Meat Board |
Bread |
Makis and Sashimi |
Japanese Station. There are a lot of maki rolls and sashimi to choose from, but do notice that the tempura is out of the picture. I'm not sure if you can take some of the shrimps and have them cooked tempura style, but I did find it odd that a popular dish such as this one is missing.
Filipino Station |
Noodles |
Noodle Station. Grab a bowl and fill it will all the ingredients you want to be in your noodle soup. I wanted a laksa and didn't know what to put, so the chef manning the station made one for me, and I liked it. It had the usual coconut cream based soup with a touch of spiciness.
Seafood |
Italian Cuisine. I wasn't able to get a photo of the Italian station, but they did have a few pizzas and Italian dishes available. You can also have your own pasta dish made from the sauces and noodles they have.
Grilling. Again, I was too busy taking a photo of the huge beef in display that I didn't get to take a photo of everything else in this section. But this is where you can take your seafood and other meat for them to cook. This is also where I was able to get a shawarma, with marinated beef being cooked on the spot.
Cakes |
Tarts |
My Dessert Plate |
My boyfriend and I enjoyed our short but filling lunch here at Hyatt Cafe. My biggest disappointment from this restaurant is that they did not have the steak that I've been looking for in every hotel buffet, which carries a lot of weight in my decision to come back or not. Nevertheless, the other dishes served sort of made up for the absence of the steak.
