Thomson Road Chinese Bistro at Molito Alabang

Being a foodie is fun, but most of the time it is also very tiring and stressful. People usually know what they want when they want it. In my case, I crave for so much that I often find myself getting frustrated about not knowing where I want to eat. (Am I the only one???)

This was my situation 2 Sundays ago. I already had a restaurant in mind around Alabang, but the thought about visiting the restaurant on that day didn't excite even the tiniest part of the foodie in me, prompting me to me look for a second option. Luckily, after a few more scrolls on my phone, I found this new Chinese restaurant I haven't heard about before. I took one look at its menu and I knew that this has got to be my agenda for the day.

Thomson Road Chinese Bistro has only been open for some weeks now, and having read nothing about them made it simpler for me to pinpoint what I wanted to try. A clean slate, if I might add.

Shrimp Siomai P188

A classic dumpling with minced shrimp, pork, and mushroom as the top ingredients is Thomson Road's shrimp siomai. Just the sight of this huge shrimp siomai will already amaze you. On first bite, I had it with my usual soysauce and calamansi, but I noticed that there was something that tasted a bit sour inside the dumpling (although my boyfriend didn't notice it. weird). I then tried it with just the soysauce and some chili, and I enjoyed it better. Make sure to use their chili even if you're not a chili lover, since it isn't really spicy, and it adds a certain texture to the siomai that I'm sure you'd appreciate.

Thomson Road Roasted Pork P355

A dish made of roasted pork belly slices over claypot rice (or egg noodle soup), the Thomson Road Roasted Pork is the Chinese Restaurant's take on charsiu rice. The sauce poured over the claypot rice and the sweet and savory roasted pork made such a great combination. A more tender meat could have made this dish flawless.

Seafood Coconut Soup P375
This seafood coconut soup makes a mouthwatering rainy weather essential. It's quite a catch with the shrimp, fish tofu, fish cake, and egg noodle (or rice noodles) all tossed in a coconut soup base with a hint of curry. I loved the touch of spice that every spoonful of this soup left in my taste buds.
