NYC Comfort Food at The Bowery
Bonifacio Global City is full of restaurants and bars that make it known not only as a rising business district, but also as a destination for food and social gatherings. It is also on a corner of this busy city that a simple restobar serving great American comfort food lies.
The Bowery is a restaurant located near the Mind Museum and Burgos Circle. Having a serene setting, this place is the perfect secret hideout with your friends, drinking cocktails, eating mac and cheese, and forgetting that the world outside exists. This is exactly what my friends and I have done one Sunday afternoon.
Shrimp Truffle Mac and Cheese P850 |
A skillet filled with macaroni coated in creamy cream cheese and mozzarella combination, cracked black pepper, garlic, shrimp, and a touch of truffle oil. The price may be bothering, but you just cannot put a price on love. It's also quite heavy, so best if it be shared with someone. If people say that the mac and cheese is great at The Bowery, then their shrimp truffle mac & cheese must be the greatest.
Steak and Eggs P490 |
An order of sliced hangar steak cooked to your liking, 2 organic eggs any style (may be poached, sunny side-up or scrambled), herbed home fries (or mixed greens) and sourdough toast. The steak cooked medium tasted amazing, and was incredibly tender. No need to ask for a steak knife. My only concern about the steak and eggs plate was how oily the home fries were.
The service at this restaurant may need some work. A server handling 5 tables made it difficult for us to call her attention, although she was able to get all of our requests right. So still a job well done.
The words "comfort food" may have no definite meaning to me yet personally, but I can say that The Bowery was able to give a good translation to it with the delicious food we have had.
