It's amazing how restaurants think of new, clever ways to lure customers in. It's all so common now. We see so many promos these days. There are unlimited offers, buy-one-take-ones, discounts and coupons, but one restaurant tops all of these off by simply offering the best service.
Prego is an Italian restaurant inside City of Dreams. Its name actually means "you're welcome" in Italian, which is probably the phrase they use so often during restaurant hours. We had some of their finest dishes from appetizers to desserts, and I can't help but fall in love with a bunch of it.
APPETIZERS
Gran Seafood Antipasti Mare P890 |
Special assortment of Italian seafood appetizers. What we had was a plate of smoked salmon, shrimps and mussels, and octopus. I got to try only the salmon and the octopus, that I both loved, but the octopus really surprised me with its incredible taste. I was expecting something cold and slimy, but all I got was a really bite full of flavors.
A plate full of assorted Italian Meat and vegetables, the saltiness of each meat was just a great start for our palates.
If you're feeling more like having greens for appetizer, then I suggest you try their insalata alla cesare for P450. An order is composed of romaine greens tossed in an authentic caesar dressing and topped with pan-fried Italian pancetta, croutons, and shaved parmesan.
PASTA
Short tube pasta with Guanciale bacon in tomato sauce served inside a crispy parmesan cheese basket. The pasta was good, although it had a lighter tomato taste compared to the other one we had.
We also loved their paccheri salsicce e funghi alla boscaiola (P540), which is a special, tomato-based pasta with fresh Italian sausage and mushrooms. This had a heavier taste, which made me like it more than the other. It all depends on your personal preference.
For those who are thinking of having pasta in white sauce, the spaghetti alla carbonara (P530) is something to consider. It's the carbonara as we know it, cooked with egg, parmesan, and crispy pancetta sauce.
MAIN
FILLETO DI MANZO CON FEGATO D'OCA IN SALSA TARTUFATA CON SPINACI E ASPARAGI P990/100g
Certified Angus beef tenderloin topped with pan-fried foie gras in truffle sauce, and served with asparagus, fresh spinach, and a side of gravy. You can't help but drool by just looking at the sliced beef tenderloin portions sitting on their own juices staring right at you. Having its goodness in your mouth has the same effect.
Those who are on a smaller budget can still have a taste of Prego's steaks with their bistecca disossata alla Grigilia con spinaci (P520/100g). It's beef rib-eye cooked to perfection, accompanied with sauteed spinach and vegetables. To be honest, this was my favorite from our entire visit. Both the steaks were incredibly tender and juicy, the only difference is the meat used.
PIZZA
Pizza topped with tomato, fresh cherry tomatoes and burrata sauce.
Other pizzas include the pizza prego (P590), their house pizza with spiced salami, anchovies, blue cheese, fresh tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese; and the pizza margherita (P520), which is consists of basil, fresh oregano, fresh tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese as toppings.
DESSERTS
Panna Cotta Al Miele Tartufo P420 |
Tiramisu P420 |
We really had a nice, peaceful time at Prego. Credits go not only to their chefs for presenting and serving quality meals (especially the steaks!), but also to all the staff for attending to our every need without having to ask for them. This made a huge difference in our dining experience. Kudos to the entire team!
