Time for a Feast at Toast Asian Kitchen & Tasting Room
We take a lot of things for granted. While we complain about almost anything, we tend to forget to celebrate the littlest but most important things that make life worth living, the things that matter the most. The love and support of our friends and family, the roof over our heads, even the food we share, all these are reasons for us to raise our glasses and TOAST to a #blessed life.
This is the founding concept of Toast Asian Kitchen & Tasting Room, a restaurant located at the newly opened Ayala Malls the 30th. They serve their customers good Asian food to celebrate and drink to. Team Kaladkarin, with the invite from Toast via ilovetoeatph, was lucky enough to have been invited to experience this restaurant's scrumptious offerings.
RESTAURANT INTERIORS
THE FOOD
STARTERS
Thai Basil Chicken Poppers P228 |
Bite-sized chicken pieces deep fried and tossed in sweet and spicy sauce, and garnished with chopped fresh basil. This highly addicting appetizer surely made it to our team's favorites.
Tom Yum Meatball P249 |
Pork meatballs seasoned with tom yum spices and smothered in tom yum sauce and melted cheddar cheese. I'm not familiar with the taste of tom yum, but I can say that the meatballs were seasoned well. I also found some crunchy bits inside the meatballs which made me enjoy it better.
Chicken Wings Yakitori (Teriyaki Sauce) P59 |
Pork Belly P65 & Wagyu Cubes P175 Yakitori |
Everything tasted delicious with their teriyaki sauce, but I think I'm speaking for everyone when I say that nothing can beat the goodness of the wagyu cubes.
MAINS
Longganisa Pasta P349 |
Fusilli pasta with longganisa cooked in a tomato cream sauce and tocaccia bread. The pasta was fully coated with the sauce, although a little more would have been nice, since it was a bit lacking in taste.
Twice Cooked Pork with Salted Egg Fried Rice P475 |
Salted egg fried rice topped with tender, braised, and seared pork belly and some crunchy wanton strips. Unlike most salted egg dishes offered in other restaurants, this rice had just a mild touch of salted egg that's perfect for pairing with the pork belly and practically anything else. It's absolutely a must-try!
No typo there! Toast's take on Singaporean laksa involves a dark twist. The addition of squid ink on top of the laksa to get a bolder and enriched coconut broth was a nice approach. The rich taste of the coconut milk with the absence of the usual strong and spicy curry secured this unique laksa's place in our hearts.
Sit tight because you might fall off your chairs with this melt-in-your-mouth stir fried wagyu cubes and Chinese broccoli in light soy sauce. This might seem similar to their yakitori wagyu cubes, but I beg to disagree. This had less sweetness in it, highlighting the succulence of the wagyu beef. No one should be allowed to exit this restaurant without having a bite of this.
DESSERT
Trifle made with layers of sweet mangoes, crushed broas, cream, and tapioca pearls. With the slight sweetness, contrasting textures and added crunch, this mango trifle is everything that you would want from a dessert.
Batangas tablea chocolate mousse with cream and chocnut powder. The rich and bittersweet taste of the chocolate mousse partnered with the cream were perfect to seal the meal xD. The texture of the chocolate mousse was a bit flawed, though.
DRINKS
Pomelo Sour |
Bacardi White mixed with a hint of Malibu shaken with passion fruit, mint leaves, pineapple juice, and lime wedges.
Raspberry Iced Tea |
Whether or not there is an occasion to celebrate, Toast is undeniably the place to feast. This restaurant may be a new player in the highly competitive food business, but it definitely didn't seem like one. I can't wait for my next visit. Soon? I'm still craving for some wagyu beef cubes.
