Delicious + Cheap Ramen: Ramen Kuroda

by - Friday, February 10, 2017

I finally got to satisfy my month long ramen craving with my visit to Ramen Kuroda for lunch with my colleagues.
We've decided on this last Wednesday, when we realized how badly we need to get ramen and how badly we need to save as well. Solution: the cheapest ramen available.
I was thinking of ordering the shiro chashumen, which is P50 more expensive than the shiro, and has more chasu slices. But since I saw that the pork belly of their shiro ramen wasn't that small, I figured it would be enough for me.
Shiro P180

I've tried this about a year ago, and it's not what I remembered. The broth was still good, just how thick I want the soup to be, but it had some hint of garlic which I am not fond of (still good though). The noodles were thin, again, just like how I like it, but it was a but tougher than what I normally enjoy, so I had a harder time chewing (I let the noodles "cook" a little more by having it soaked in the hot soup. It kinda worked) However, this is just a matter of personal preference since my officemates liked it this way. The pork belly was delicious! It was so tender and succulent.

Serving was enough for lunch. We were full, but not to a point that we swore not to eat anything after. It didn't keep me full until dinner, unlike how heavy other Ramen joints make me feel.
The place is small, which can only serve around 20-25pax. Service was quick. The food can be served in around 12-15mins. They also have complimentary hot or cold tea. Remember to ask for them.
Overall I can't say that Ramen Kuroda is part of my top 3 favorite ramen choices, but it sure is worth the buck.
P.S. They also have no service charge.

My score:
Pricing – 5/5
Service – 3/5
 Ambiance – 3/5
Taste – 3.5/5
